This week’s Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains brings us the biggest dramatic change of this season, the clash between Boston Rob and Russell has come to an end, earlier than expected.
Till the next morning after the tribal council, Rob was still confusing on how it happened in the tribal council. He couldn’t believe Tyson was so dumb to get himself voted out, so he suspected someone in his alliance had betrayed them. Everyone was paranoid, especially when Parvati and Danielle were laughing out around their camp.
Before the reward challenge, Colby knew that it’s time that he needed to prove himself. He had been spared three times.
In the challenge, teams faced off, three on three. They had to retrieve a ball in the water and throw it into their basket, while the opposing team tried to stop them. The villains had to sit out three players, and Courtney volunteered again! (Why the villain sit out their weakest player and save her for the more importantly immunity challenge was a myth to me. But Courtney had become a player who made it the farthest without doing anything!)
The heroes dominated, they scored all three points in a row. Colby was in great shape, he scored two points. Yeah, the Superman was back. But can he hold on to that? I doubt.
The heroes were taken to a waterfall, where they enjoy a nice meal. They also recovered a note, which revealed that another hidden immunity idol was at their camp. The heroes decided to find the idol together and use it after the merge against the villains. Good thought, but I doubt they will stick to that plan. (So there must be another idol in the villains’ camp as well, will Russell find it without any tips?)
At the villains’ camp, Russell is busy working to pull Jerri and Coach into his alliance. Coach and Jerri are in the middle between Russell and Rob’s alliances, their move would change everything of the game. Jerri fell into Russell’s words quickly, because he was willing to sacrifice himself by giving the immunity idol to Parvati. Coach struggled a bit, as he gave his word to both Rob and Russell.
At the immunity challenge, teams had race, one at a time, across a net to retrieve a bag of puzzle pieces. Once the tribe collected six bags, two members would then solve it to win. And there was no doubt that the villains put Rob in the solving task.
Everyone performed well, with the exception of Courtney. She fell, she stood 10 feet up on the rope web without moving, like a kid on a high dive ladder afraid to go either up or down. She finally jumped down and attempted to land on her feet, leading to yet another awkward fall. And because of her, the villains lost quite a lot of time. And this time, even Boston Rob could not save their asses. Heroes won immunity, and for the first time, villains lost both challenges in a row.
Back at the villains’ camp, came my favorite scene of this episode. Russell, Rob, Courtney, and Sandra were all sitting together at the beach the discussion turned to whom the tribe should vote out:
Russell: I think we need to weed off the weak.
Rob: Who do you suggest?
Russell: (pointing to Courtney and Sandra, sitting right in front of them) One of these.
Rob: One of who?
Russell: (pointing again to Courtney and Sandra) Right here.
This is so fantastic! I don’t think we’ve ever seen anyone being that casual like Russell was, dismissing other people right in front of their faces. Even Rob was in shocked. What a wonderful scene!
Anyway, Rob knew that he was targeted, and he knew that Jerri was struggling about which side to take. He told her that she needed to do what’s best for her and she knew what’s right. But would she listen to him? Coach tried to push Russell to vote Courtney out, but it seemed no one listened to him.
At the tribal council, Russell challenged Rob, saying he wouldn’t giving his idol up to another alliance member like he did. There was a debate about loyalty, and everyone swore that they were loyal to his/her alliance.
Coach tried very hard to bring the two alliances together, but at this point, nothing could change their minds.
Then came the votes, Courtney got one vote, from Coach. Boston Rob got four, and was sent home. (I love both Boston Rob and Russell, to see one of them going home is quite upset.)
Jeff asked the villains a question before they left: Will voting Rob out unite your team or destroy it? My bet is on the latter, we’ll see next week.
