“I’ll do or say anything if I believe in it, but I have to believe in the cause.” Sony has released the official trailer for George Clooney’s The Ides of March, the adaptation of Beau Willimon‘s stage play Farragut North. George Clooney stars as Governer Mike Morris and Ryan Gosling as a young, influential press secretary. Paul Giamatti, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Evan Rachel Wood and Marisa Tomei co-star, and the film looks pretty intense from this trailer.

“Either we’re going to lead the world, or we’re going to bury our heads in the sand.” The Ides of Marchtakes place during the frantic last days before the heavily contested Ohio presidential primary, when an up-and-coming campaign press secretary (Ryan Gosling) finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to upend his candidate’s shot at the presidency. George Clooney not only directed the film, but also stars in it with Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jeffrey Wright. Sony Pictures has Ides of March scheduled for release on October 7th this fall, following a premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
