I was impressed by the teaser trailer for Luc Besson‘s biopic drama The Lady, starring Michelle Yeoh as real-life Burmese political leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Now the full theatrical trailer for this film has been unveiled, and it’s very triumphant. David Thewlis co-stars as her husband Michael Aris in the film. This is looking to be another strong contender for the award season.

The story of Aung San Suu Kyi, the woman who is at the core of Burma’s democracy movement, and her husband, Michael Aris. Despite distance, long separations, and a dangerously hostile regime, their love endures until the very end.
The Lady premiered at TIFF, and will have a limited US run later this year in order to qualify for the next Oscar award ceremony.
