“Pure driving, real racing… that makes me happy.” The official trailer for the award winning Formula One racing documentary Senna has finally arrived, and it’s incredible. Senna is the world’s most talented and greatest F1 driver, he had brought me into the world of Formula One. The accident that took his life in 1994 is still one of my darkest moments, for me it’s exciting and heartbreaking to see these old footage. Watch the trailer below, and be sure to catch it when it is shown in limited release in August.
Check out the official US trailer for Asif Kapadia’s documentary Senna:
Senna’s remarkable story, charting his physical and spiritual achievements on the track and off, his quest for perfection, and the mythical status he has since attained, is the subject of Senna, a documentary feature that spans the racing legend’s years as an F1 driver, from his opening season in 1984 to his untimely death a decade later. Far more than a film for F1 fans, Senna unfolds a remarkable story in a remarkable manner, eschewing many standard documentary techniques in favour of a more cinematic approach that makes full use of astounding footage, much of which is drawn from F1 archives and is previously unseen.
Senna was directed by BAFTA winning British/Indian filmmaker filmmaker Asif Kapadia, of feature films like The Warrior, The Return and Far North previously. The doc also contains screenwriting byManish Pandey. This premiered in Japan last year and at the Sundance Film Fest this year. PDA (Producers Distribution Agency) is bringing Senna to limited US theaters starting August 12th this summer
