This week, the top 20 performance and elimination are packed into one episode. Because they’ve done an episode of showcasing all the contestants in their own styles.

And we are shown a chair with Paula Abdul’s name on it, it seems that the show’s very desperate for her. I haven’t watched American Idol before, but based on some criticisms on her, I’m not that fond of having her as a judge.

Then, before the performances start, we learn that Billy Bell is ill and can no longer take part in the competition, damn! Noelle Marsh has injured her knee, so she can’t perform this evening as well.

Then the performances begin.

First up, is Channing and Phillip, dancing a Jive, choreographed by Jason Gilkison. Jive is a fast footwork style, Phillip’s Tap dancing skill does help him a bit in the footsteps, but his upper body couldn’t catch up, it’s a bit awkward to see. Channing does a better job, however, the chemistry between them is not there. The judges say they are a bit lazy at the end.

Second couple, Ashleigh and Jakob, Broadway, by Tyce Diorio. To my surprise, their chemisty is very good. Without question, Jakob is very talented (Nigel even says that he and Billy are the two most gifted dancers the show has ever seen). His movement is incredible. Ashleigh is left behind a bit, but Jakob makes that up. I believe this couple will go a long way to the top 10.

Third, Ariana and Peter, Hip Hop, by Tabitha and Napoleon. This is definately not their comfort zone. Footworks are messy, bodies are a bit stiff. Though their chemistry is great, overall, it’s bad.

Fourth, Russell and Melanie Lapatin (Standing in for Noelle Marsh), Fox Trot, by Tony Meredith and Melanie Lapatin. Russell does a great job considering he had to switch partner at the very end. Though it’s a bit weird to watch these two dance together, it’s like mother dancing with her son. I think ballroom dances might be Russell’s weakness, judging from his performances through Vegas’ week. Hopefully he can catch up with a realy partner.

Fifth, Bianca and Victor, Contemporary, by Travis Wall. Travis proves himself to be a talented choreographer again! This piece is stunning, if not let down by Bianca a bit, it’d be one of the best dances of the show. Victor is much better than Bianca on technique. But both of them show great confidences and chemistry.

Sixth, Karen nd Kevin, Cha Cha, by Tony Meredith and Melanie Lapatin. This is Karen’s comfort zone, and she surely shines on it, we have our first passenger on the Hot Tamale Train this season! Kevin works very good on this piece as well, their parnership starts strong and reliable.

Seventh, Ryan and Ellenore, Contemporary, by Sonya Tayeh. This is Sonya, and we know it’s going to be weird, mysterious. They are dressed in some kind of feathered ancient men get-up. This routine is about Darkness overtaking the Angel, and they are really into it. As a ballroom dancer, Ryan’s movement is effortless.

Eighth, Pauline and Brandon. Smooth Waltz, by Jason Gilkison. Only given 1 and a half days notice is a big disadvantage for Brandon, the lack of pratices make this piece a disaster for them. Brandon is struggling all through the whole dance. Pauline’s charm to look at though. Overall, the worst performance of the night.

Ninth, Kathryn and Legacy, Hip Hop, by Dave Scott. As a B-boy, this is Legacy’s safe zone. But Kathryn surprises everyone by holding herself right along with him. They are dressed as cavemen, both of them hit the floor hard. They dance precisely and right on the beat of music, great job. If Legacy could pull himself through other styles, they have a long way to go.

Last but not least, Nathan and Mollee, Disco, Dariana Sanchez. Dariana has brought quite a few pieces of energetic Disco to us, and this one’s no exception. Sliding across the floor, lifts, everything’s phenomenal. As Nigel says, these two are a dream team. They are both adorable, energetic, and together with their chemistry combines, perfect couple.

Then it’s time for the judges to pick four dancers to dance for their lives. Ariana, Brandon, Pauline and Russell. What a shock to hear they pick Russell! But anyway, judging from their perfomances and solos, there is no doubt Russell will stay. As for the girls’ solos, both of them have great techniques, but Ariana lacks emotions when she’s dancing.

Decision time, the judges send Ariana and Brandon home. However, though the rules forbid anyone perform in the top 20 to come back for future seasons, Nigel says he will talk with Fox to give Brandon a second chance next season. Good luck.

This week, teams are still in Dubai, seems the producers wanted the world to have a more thorough look at it. First stop, the Dubai Creek Yacht Club, where a Roadblock awaits. Meghan and Cheyne are the first to depart, more than one hour prior to the second team. Considering that they did the Fast Forward last leg, it’s not much time that they’ve saved. For this task, one member has to row to an anchored yacht offshore to ge a watch, then row back and open the suitcase (they are asked to bring) with a combination based on the watch.

The watch is stuck at 8:35, and almost everyone figure the answer out right away, except Big Easy. Even Mika and Canaan pass the Globetrotters, though they leave the start nearly one hour after them.

The clue inside the briefcase tells them to go to the Abra station, to take water taxis to the next stop they choose. Yes, a detour: Gold or Glass. In Gold, teams have to weigh in $500000 worth of gold, while the price of gold is changing every few minutes. In glass, teams have to assemble 12 hookahs. To me, the hookahs task seems to be more complicated.

And I’m right, it takes each team about 1-2 hours to finish them all. Brian and Ericka try the Gold task first, but soon switch to Glass because they couldn’t outpace the speed of the price change. On the other hand, Maria and Tiffany, with the calculator they borrow from Sam and Dan, finish the task (together with Sam and Dan) with only two tries, gaining them quite a lot of time ahead of the other teams.

Meanwhile, Meghan and Cheyne assemble their hookahs without much trouble, but everyone else’s been struggling a lot. Eventually, Brian and Ericka, followed by Gary and Matt, finish them. The Globetrotters then decide to switch, leaving Mika and Canaan striving under the hot sun.

Next stop, the Atlantis Resort, where they must each slide down the Leap of Faith, a six-story water slide that’s almost 90 degree. Meghan and Cheyne are first to arrive, followed by Maria and Tiffany, Sam and Dan, Brian and Ericka and Gary and Matt. Then come Mika and Canaan.

We are all very well-known of Mika’s fear of heights, but you’d never think that it would cost them one million dollars. She’s standing at the top of the slide refusing to do the task, even when Canaan tries to threat her. The Globetrotters arrive not long after, and they are giving a two-minute warning. But after Flight Time and Big Easy trash talk to her, Mika lets it expire. (Seriously, if I am the Globetrotters’ boss, I’d fire them for that. Where the hell’s your sportsmanship? NBA doesn’t need such piece of crap to perform for them!) Knowing that they are the last team, Canaan slide down alone. And Mika gives up the task at last.

The teams finished as follows:

1st: Meghan and Cheyne

2nd: Maria and Tiffany

3rd: Sam and Dan

4th: Brian and Ericka

5th: Gary and Matt

6th: Flight Time and Big Easy

7th: Mika and Canaan

Mika and Canaan are eliminated.

This week, we see that the rain has been kept pouring down, both tribes suffer a lot. Everyone’s hands and feet are white, pruny, and raw. People can’t stop shaking, and there is no doubt that they lack sleep and nutrition. I’ve watched almost every season of Survivor, but I can’t recall there had been raining so hard before. Poor them.

Meanwhile, Russell (the devil), seems to have a very good time here. He goes around and keeps doing his daily business while everyone hiding in the useless shelter. I have to admit that his evilness has gone away during this misery weather, and it’s kind of fun to watch him.

On Galu, Russell (the good) is busy as well. He tries to make fire, to no avail. And it seems he’s feeling weak at some point.

In this episode’s challenge, teams have to place one member in a giant ball while two blindfolded players push the ball through a course. Once they arrive at the finish line, the two players will join the other two blindfolded players to complete a puzzle, using only the person in the ball for guidance. Winning tribe gets to eat hot pizzas. However, there is a twist, both tribe will have to go to tribal council and vote one off. While the winning tribe would be watching the losing tribe’s council with Jeff.

It’s obvious that the producers want to even up the playing field, as Foa Foa is losing and losing and losing.

Despite his weakness, Russell (the good) sits out other players and join the competition. But, it proves to be a disater for him. When Galu arrive at the puzzle, moment’s behind Foa Foa, Russell (the good) completely loses his consciousness. Jeff stops the challenge and asks medics to see if he’s okay. No, he is not good. His condition worse just within a few minutes, heart rate drops, and unable to gain conscious for a few minutes.

Jeff cancels the challenge, no winner, no pizza, while both tribes are still going to vote someone off. If Russell (the good) gets better, he’ll join them at tribal council.

Back at Galu, everyone’s miserable because they might lose two people in one night. All the young girls unite and wants to vote Shambo off. However, the men feel that Shambo is harmless to them, and decide to go against Monica. While at Foa Foa, it’s obviously a choice between Natalie and Liz.

At tribal council, both tribes get competitive. Foa Foa seems to be very confident that they would have won the challenge today. Eric claims that there’s no way Galu would lose the game. Russell (the devil) fires back that they are in a very high spirit, and will win the next challenge.

Jeff then reveals that Russell (the good) can not continue the game, and based on everything’s happened, no one will be voted out. Lucky them.

The teams are told to fly to the Persian Gulf, but they have to figure out where the world’s tallest building is for the exact city that they need to go. Most of them go straight to the airport while some of them go to Internet Cafe first.

Sam and Dan thinks the Persian Gulf is a country, because they kept referring to it, but don’t know what it is. Canaan is making fun of Mika’s fear of heights on their way to the airport, and gets a icy glare back. Lance and Keri begin to meltdown as well. When they try to book ticket via Internet, the filght fills up. Keri says it’s a glitch, while Lance just blames Keri for the fault.

Brian and Ericka is the only team that knows where the building is, it’s in Dubai. Brian tells everyone in the airport where they’re going. He is really kind, but this is a race, if you come in last, you still lose. Eventually everone’s on the same flight to Dubai.

Their first task in Dubai turns out to be doing nothing. Teams are divided into two groups, and go up to the top of the building one after another one. There, they get their clues and are told to go back down to the parking lot. Lame!

Inside the clue, there’s also the only one Fast Forward of the season. Meghan and Cheyne decide to go for it, while other teams think it’s too risky to compete with another team. The two head to an race track where one of them has to drive a F3 racing car and complete a lap around the track in less than 45 seconds. The track’s very straight forward one, Cheyne has no trouble in completing it. The two then head to the Pit Stop in a Maserati, and arrive first.

Next up for the other teams is a Roadblock, one member of each team has to wander around the desert (which is very hot) to find urns buried in the sand containing water, then fill their bags.

Sam’s paddle breaks, and Maria lends him hers. Then soon after they are leaving the Roadblock, Maria and Tiffany skewered their car tire on a spike. Sam and Dan stay with them to wait for the replacement car. How sweet of them, but I wonder Maria and Tiffany would do the same if Sam and Dan were in this situation.

Mika and Canaan are lost on their way to the Roadblock, Brian is kindly to tell them where to go when he sees them. Canaan gets another glare from Mika when he says he couldn’t handle the heat, then he reluctantly says he could right after she looked at him.

Lance’s dramatics make them fall farther and farther behind the other teams. They arrive at the Roadblock just right before Canaan finishes filling his bag. Lance smashes every urn he finds on the ground.

The teams then go to Ski Dubai, from hot to cold, for the Detour. The choice: Build a Snowman or Find a Snowman. In Build a Snowman, teams have to build a snowman outside (where it’s 120 degrees) to the attendant’s satisfaction before the snow melted. In Find a Snowman, teams have to take the ski lift up to the top, then sled down the artificial mountain and looking through large piles of snow for a tiny snowman toy. Almost every team choose Find a Snowman first. But not all of them are lucky, except Brian and Ericka, Flight Time and Big Easy. Eventually, the other teams lose their patiences and go to do Build a Snowman. Lance, after finishing the task, wants to kick the snowman they build. His temper sure has gone up to quite high a point at that moment, because they are behind the other teams the whole leg.

The teams arrive at the Pit Stop in the following order:
1st: Meghan and Cheyne
2nd: Brian and Ericka
3rd: Flight Time and Big Easy
4th: Gary and Matt
5th: Sam and Dan
6th: Maria and Tiffany
7th: Mika and Canaan
8th: Lance and Keri

Lance and Keri are eliminited from the race.

Back from previous tribal council, Shambo feels completely isolated from the whole tribe, as she was not told about voting Yasmin out. The other girls acts like middle school girls, they just sit beside the fire and chat like Shambo’s not there. They make me feel sick.

Tree mail arrives, and a food challenge is waiting. When it’s a food challenge, everyone knows it’s going to be some disgusting stuff. Liz’s worried about Ashley (and she’s right).

Galu sits out Kelly, Laura and John, lucky them. Others taking the challenge one on one. Jeff spin the wheel and mix up items to make a Samoan Smoothie, they are really disgusting. Everyone is able to finish their smoothie, except Ashley, so Galu wins reward, some barbeque stuff, again. Anyway, everyone should be given credit of drinking those shits.

Russell (the good) sends Shambo to Foa Foa again, which pisses her very much.

Shambo shares the clues of the immunity idol with the whole Foa Foa tribe, and she starts looking for it at camp, to no avail. Liz suspect that Russell (the devil) has got the idol because he was looking in that tree hole before. She confronts him, but he denies, and then threatens to get her out if she doesn’t believe him.

Heavy rain begins to pour down, making things miserable for all people.

At the immunity challenge, coconuts will be thrown into a net by the opposing tribe and player will have to hold it up for as long as they can. It seems the food gives Galu much more energies, as their acuracy is much much better than Foa Foa. Russell (the devil) and Liz are out of challenge very soon. Galu wins immunity.

As the heavy rains continues, everyone in Foa Foa sits under the shelter, no one can run around talking other people to vote what they wants out. It looks like it’s come down to Liz or Ashley. Liz performed very well in challenges, but she’s not close to other people as Ashley does. And as she confronted Russell (the devil) earlier, it’s hard to imagine he would not write down her name.

Surprisingly, with the votes come at tribal council, it’s Ashley who gets all the votes and she’s sent home.

After twelve hours’ rest, all teams learn that their next stop is Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The first flight leave at 12:45, while the second’s about two hours later. All teams get their tickets for the first flight, except Zev and Justin and Lance and Keri. But at the last minute, they manage to get on the first flight. So all teams are even again.

They are asked to go to the Foreign Correspondents’s club, and ask their editor for their next ASSIGNMENT. They are given a black and white picture of a woman and are told to find a suite named after her. The woman is Jacqueline Kennedy, but many of the teams could not recognize her. Some even thought she might be Queen Elizabeth.

After asking around, they learn the suite is in the Hotel Royal. Here, teams face a detour, cover or wrap. In cover, teams have to sell four motorcycle helmets to a family of four. While in wrap, teams have to go to the Russian Market, and find a scarf seller who’s wearing the scarf of the same color that each team have. Only Lance and Keri choose cover, other teams all set up for the market. (I’d think that selling four helmet for 10 dollars is a much easier job, and it proves to be. )

The next clue leads them to Wat Tul Tom Pong and a Roadblock awaits them. One member must try to act like a monkey, to perform three monkey moves successfully. Zev and Justin and Sam and Dan are neck and neck at this point, but Sam and Dan manage to finish first, and moving ahead.

Then it’s time to head to the pit stop, Wat Phnom, a Buddhist temple. Zev and Justin go by taxi, which giving them quite an advantage, and they arrive first. However, after checking in, they find out Zev’s passport is missing. According to the rules, any team can not move on the race if they don’t have passport, thus will be eliminated. Throughout the whole episode, I don’t get to see that they have dropped anything on the road. So I’m as confused as them where could they lose that passport. Anyway, after going over all their staff, they call their taxi driver and start their search.

So the teams that finish from 1 to 7 are as follows, Sam and Dan, Flight Time and Big Easy, Brian and Ericka, Gary and Matt, Meghan and Cheyne, Lance and Keri, Mika and Canaan.

Tiffany and Maria are the last team to check in, however, as Zev and Justin are still out there searching for the missing passport, they are saved, again. (Three times’ a charm, let’s see if they will be lucky a third time. )

So, in this shocking turn of misfortune, Zev and Justin are eliminated. It’s really sad to see them go, I believe they have a very good chance of winning this race. But that’s life, you never know what’s in store next.

Back from tribal council, Russell (the devil) admits that he had no choice but to vote Ben. Jaison, in his individual interview, saying coming on Survivor is the worst decision of his life. (Then why didn’t he just volunteer to be voted out?)

At Galu, Erik tries to get info from Shambo about the immunity idol. He believes that if one is hidden at Foa Foa, another one should be hidden at their own camp. Then John shows up from nowhere, and Shambo easily gives up what she learned from the note she was given. That’s a really dumb move, she has no alliance in this tribe, Erik or John could easily turn against her at any time.

Both tribes get their tree mails. Each leader much choose two people to go on a quest, which might get them some rewards. Mick, leader of Foa Foa, takes Russell (the devil) and Natalie with him. While Russell (the good) of Galu takes Shambo and Dave. Six people arrive at the beach for the quest, but Jeff doesn’t show up. There is a cage with chickens in it and a pirate chest, but no judge to give them directions. Then, after a few minutes, Russell (the devil) heads towards the chest and everyone react after him. The girls goes for the chichen, Shambo catches two while Natalie only gets one. They then find purple and yellow balls and instrucions for a challenge in the chest.

Still, there is no Jeff. And he doesn’t show up through the whole challenge.

The reward challenge is a bocce game. Each tribe’s members throw their balls towrds a pole, and the one that gets nearest to the pole wins. Russell (the devil) seems to be quite good at this, and it looks like Foa Foa is finally back on track. However Dave destroys their morale again, the last ball he throws lands right next to the pole. Galu wins again, and Foa Foa go back to camp empty handed.

While the others are out for the challenge, Erik tries to distract other people at camp with some jobs, and starts to look for the idol when they are away or sleeping. John finds out what he is doing, but he pretends to sleep and keeps silence later on.

Shambo gets screwed. What’s worse, she let a chicken get out of the cage by accidence and the whole tribe fails to catch it back. Just a reminder, she lost some of the fishing gear in episode 2. More tribe members are targeting her now. She better start praying.

We are happy to see Jeff again at the immunity challenge. Galu sits out Shambo, Laura, Dave, and Russell. In this challenge, each tribe must first race through a net course with blocks in hand, and stack them up when they reach a mat. Then they will race through a rope bridge and untie two bags of blocks and stack them up again.

Galu takes an early lead, again. But Foa Foa just falls behind for a few seconds. Then at the rope bridge, Monica struggle very hard, giving Foa Foa quite a lot time to catch up. And no one could imagine how agile Russell (the devil) moves across that rope bridge. It was fun to watch!

It’s neck and neck at the second mat. Jaison’s height ends up being quite an advantage for Foa Foa. Heidi just stands on him and stacks up the blocks with no difficulties. Foa Foa finaly wins their first challenge.

Monica’s miserable performance in the challenge makes her a target for elemination. Russell makes it clear that he will vote her out. But Yasmin’s laziness at camp seems to make her a bigger target. Russell is pissed off when he heard Yasmin’s on the chopping block. Good news is, Shambo’s safe.

Right before the tribal council, it seems that the tribe dares not turn against Russell.

Yasmin and Monica are the focus of tribal council. First Yasmin is called out for doing nothing at camp, and she fights back, saying that she has done quite well in the challenges. She then turns to Monica, while Monica defends that she did a good job in the challenge.

Then it’s voting time, and surprisingly Yasmin gets all the votes except Shambo’s. Wonder why Russell changed his mind in the last minute.
